What are the pros and cons of blister products?

Collected from the Internet

Blister‑formed products come with distinct advantages and drawbacks.
Advantages
First, blister manufacturing requires low‑cost molds and short production cycles. It supports quick sample making and flexible order adjustments, making it suitable for both small‑batch and mass production. Second, blister products are lightweight and material‑saving. Thin‑wall designs reduce raw‑material consumption and cut transportation costs. Third, this technology can create various transparent or colored packaging trays, containers and disposable food‑holding parts. Products can show inner goods clearly, so they are widely used for commodity packaging and single‑use tableware. Besides, blister forming works well with eco‑friendly materials including BBM composite sheets and degradable plastics.
Disadvantages
The main limitation is uneven wall thickness. The stretched areas become thinner, which lowers overall rigidity and impact resistance. Blister items are generally not fit for deep, complex‑shaped or heavy‑load parts. Secondly, there are more restrictions on three‑dimensional structures compared with injection‑molded goods. Sharp corners and thick reinforcing ribs can hardly be achieved. In addition, extra trimming work is needed after forming, which generates more leftover waste. Long‑term high‑temperature use is not recommended for most thin‑wall blister containers.
